Text Psalm 91:1-12 KJV
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. [3] Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. [4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. [5] Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; [6] Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. [7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. [8] Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. [9] Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; [10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. [11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. [12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Key Scripture: Psalm 91:1-2
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."
Introduction:
Brethren, in a world full of uncertainties, dangers, and challenges, the need for divine protection cannot be overemphasized.
Through the teachings Bible studies we have come to understand the power and necessity of praise as a means of staying protected and covered by God's presence.
Praise is not just a routine act; it is a potent spiritual weapon and a divine shield that secures us under God's unfailing protection.
I have a Few Points:
1. *Understanding the Power of Praise*:
A- Praise invites God's presence: Psalm 22:3 tells us, "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel."
B- When we praise, we create an atmosphere that God dwells in, bringing His protection, peace, and power.
2. *Biblical Examples of Protection through Praise*:
A- Jehoshaphat's Victory: In 2 Chronicles 20:21-22, when Judah faced a vast army, Jehoshaphat appointed singers to praise the Lord. As they sang, the LORD set ambushes against their enemies.
B- Paul and Silas in Prison: Acts 16:25-26 recounts how Paul and Silas, despite their circumstances, chose to praise God. This led to a miraculous earthquake that opened the prison doors.
3. *Personal Benefits of Living a Life of Praise*:
A- Strengthens Faith: Praise keeps our focus on God's greatness and power, increasing our faith in His ability to protect and deliver. As Hebrews 13:15 states, "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name."
B- Dispels Fear: Consistent praise shifts our perspective from the problem to the Problem-Solver, reducing anxiety and fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
C- Brings Joy and Peace: Praise fosters a joyful heart, and joy is a strengthener, as Nehemiah 8:10 declares, "For the joy of the LORD is your strength."
4. *Practical Ways to Stay Covered in Praise*:
A - Daily Devotion: Set aside time each day for personal worship and praise, as Psalm 34:1 urges, "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
B - Praise in All Circumstances: Learn to praise God not only in good times but also in challenging situations. As 1 Thessalonians 5:18 instructs, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
C - Surround Yourself with Praise: Fill your environment with praise music and scripture declarations, just as Psalm 150:6 encourages, "Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."
Conclusion
In conclusion, staying protected and covered in His praise is not merely an act but a lifestyle. As we continually lift our voices in praise, we align ourselves with God's presence, ensuring His divine protection over every aspect of our lives. Let us commit to a life of consistent praise, recognizing that in His presence, we find safety, peace, and victory.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the gift of praise. Help us to develop a lifestyle of continuous praise, trusting in Thy protection and provision. As we praise Thee, let Thy presence overshadow us, keeping us safe from every harm and danger. In Jesus' name, Amen.
