INTRODUCTION:
In the last part of this series, we examined the characteristics of false prophets and brethren, and we were cautioned to be watchful and prayerful so that we do not fall into their hands. As we proceed in our studies today, we pray that the Holy Spirit Himself will teach us in Jesus name.
1. STARTING A RACE IS NOT E NOUGH, B UT FINISHING IT
Not all those who start a race do complete it. Many believers fall back on the way side for lack of commitment and dedication to the things of God. Neh. 6:15, Heb.12:1, Gen. 2:1, John 5:36, John 17:4-5, I Chr. 28:20, II Tim. 4:7, Neh.4:15, Neh.5:14-19, Neh.4:6, II Cor. 8:6, II Tim. 2:3, Rom. 9:16.
2. ONLY THOSE WHO COMPLETE A RACE SHALL B E REWARDED
The prize of a race is not given to those who start the race but those who complete it well. I Cor. 9:24, John 19:30, Phil. 2:8-10, Heb. 12:2, Acts. 20:24, II Tim. 4:8, Heb. 10:35, Gal. 6:9, Lk. 6:22-23, Eccl. 9: 11.
